PAKISTAN International Container Terminal, International Container Terminal Services’ subsidiary at Karachi, recently became the first container terminal in the country to obtain the ISO 45001:2018 certification.
This is the world’s first integrated international standard for occupational health and safety.
The system specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety management system and recognises organizational commitments to an even safer and healthier workplace.
PICT chief executive Khurram Aziz Khan said the certification showed their commitment to enhance employee well-being and achieve customer service excellence.
“By integrating the highest international standards in our systems and processes, we are continuously working to provide our valued clients with the highest quality of service,” Mr Khan said.
“With occupational health and safety among its top priorities, ICTSI is committed towards providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees, contractors, and port stakeholders alike.”
ICTSI senior vice president Andrew Dawes said the certifications helped the ICTSI Group’s collective efforts towards zero harm. “ICTSI remains steadfast in its drive to prevent serious incidents and ensure that every employee, contractor or visitor coming in every ICTSI port goes back home safely,” Mr Dawes said.
