TRADE compliance specialist and DCN columnist Susan Danks is to join the Freight and Trade Alliance.
The announcement was made in an email to FTA members sent by director Paul Zalai.
“I am delighted to advise members that Susan Danks will be commencing with Freight & Trade Alliance in a newly created role as head of customs and regulatory compliance,” Mr Zalai wrote.
“Sue will be well known by many members as a leading Australian trade compliance specialist and through her long-term industry association roles.”
Ms Danks is the current vice chair of the CBFCA but will not be seeking re-election at the organisation’s October annual meeting.
Starting 1 November 2019, Ms Danks is to be contracted to the FTA in parallel to her ongoing consulting work.
Her responsibilities with FTA are to include:
- Chair of the Customs Broker Advisory Group;
- Continuing professional development delivery and compliance;
- Representation on customs / DFAT related committees;
- Advocacy on compliance and reform initiatives; and member support, updates and commentaries.
“We look forward to welcoming Sue to the FTA and Australian Peak Shippers Association team,” Mr Zalai said.
The FTA is in the process of change, with director Travis Brooks-Garrett set to leave to take on a new role at DPWA.
