KEY players from shipping lines, freight forwarders and fast moving consumer goods’ businesses have gathered in Sydney for a breakfast to highlight the freight potential of the town of Parkes.
Held at Deckhouse in Woolwich, the breakfast was organised by the private rail business SCT Group and was held in conjunction with Parkes Shire Council, the Australian Rail Track Corporation and the New South Wales government.
NSW state MP Steph Cooke opened the breakfast with a welcome speech, followed by a presentation by ARTC business development manager Glen Richmond who spoke about the benefits of Inland Rail.
Parkes Shire economic and business development manager Anna Wyllie provided the audience with an insight into the offerings of Parkes and future planning for businesses and lifestyle.
SCT general manager of commercial Pat Kerin spoke about the long commitment of SCT to Parkes and the capabilities of the business including the development of intermodal hubs across Australia.
New South Wales Office of Regional Economic Development director, Ian Smith, presented on Parkes as a special activation precinct, as well as about sustainability in regional NSW and investment incentive packages on offer.
The event ended with a “Q&A” session with Glen Richmond, Anna Wyllie, Steph Cooke MP and SCT’s CEO Glenn Smith, responding to questions about infrastructure and port connectivity with Inland Rail.
