A ONE kilometre swim at Balmoral Beach in Sydney next month kicks off a range of charity activities by prominent marine and cargo insurers Alpha XO Risk Partners.

The insurer is seeking to make a positive difference to its broader communities in 2019, while throwing down the gauntlet to others in the cargo industry.

Alpha XO has set a target of raising $50,000 for charities during the year.

The AlphaXO team is choosing a range of charities, including a range from morning teas and sponsored bike rides and walks to shaving heads – or for those already bald, perhaps growing beards.

Joint managing director Simon Gosnell said they wanted to give back something.

“The team is looking to undertake each fundraising activity with at least one other person from AlphaXO and/or our broader business partners to build collaboration and have fun,” Mr Gosnell said.

To begin the initiative Andrew Glover and Rupert Morton are joining Can Too Balmoral 1km Open Water swimming race in early April.

This includes lessons, welcome news for Andrew Glover who apparently has little experience in the water.

The Can Too Foundation supports cancer prevention and cancer research, a disease which has touched all the team through colleagues, friends and family.

Donations for Andrew and Rupert can be made to: www.cantoo.org.au/fundraisers/andrewglover or www.cantoo.org.au/fundraisers/rupertmorton

“We will be doing what we can to promote the team’s efforts and hopefully share some great photos, stories and causes along the way,” Mr Gosnell said.

In 2018, the AlphaXO Risk Partners brand was created to reflect the company’s focus on marine, aviation and specialist insurance to clients across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
