PILBARA Ports Authority announced a 2% increase in total throughput last month, compared to February 2018.
PPA’s ports handled a total of 54.4m tonnes of cargo over the month, bringing the total throughput for the current financial year (to date) to 459.9m tonnes, an increase of 1% on the same period last year.
Port Hedland ‘s throughput for this past February came to 39.4m tonnes, of which 39.1m tonnes was iron ore. The port’s total throughput was less than 1% more than February 2018’s total cargo.
Imports through the port totalled 163,000 tonnes, a decrease of 3% on the same month last year.
Looking at the Port of Dampier, we find a monthly throughput of 14.5m tonnes, an increase of 5% on the same month last year. Imports through the port increased 3% on February 2018 to 87,000 tonnes.
