ANL has announced the launch of a new weekly service between Asia and Australia.
To be called Asia Australia Express 2 (AAX2), the new service is said to be complimentary to other long-running services from ANL (such as AAX).
ANL says it will provided customers with “the most comprehensive coverage between South East Asia and Australia”.
AAX2 is to call at Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) in Vietnam, Port Kelang in Malaysia, Singapore, Jakarta, Brisbane, Sydney and Townsville.
“AAX2 will break ground on two market firsts, a direct call in Vietnam to and from Australia and a fixed day weekly call in Townsville,” ANL said in a market statement.
“This new service offers the fastest transit times [from] Jakarta to Brisbane and Sydney at 10 and 12 days respectively.”
With calls into Malaysia and Singapore the service is aimed at providing a connection to and from South East Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East Gulf, Europe and North East Asia.
With calls in Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville, AAX2 is also expected to provide Australian clients with additional coastal shipping options.
The first sailing of the AAX2 service is set for 15 March from Ho Chi Minh City.
ANL general manager Asia ANZ lines Anthony Orgill said AAX2 was a proud addition to existing products.
“With the ANL network of services now including AAX2… ANL is the undisputed leader to/from South East Asia and Australia,” Mr Orgill said.
